Arunachal Pradesh has taken a significant step toward modernizing urban governance with the launch of the Online Building Permission System (OBPS), a digital platform designed to streamline the building approval process. Inaugurated by Urban Affairs Minister Balo Raja in Itanagar, the initiative aims to reduce paperwork, minimize delays, and ensure transparent and efficient approvals for construction projects across the state.
The OBPS, accessible statewide, enables applicants to submit building plans online, track application status, and receive approvals digitally, eliminating the need for physical visits to government offices. Speaking at the launch, Minister Raja emphasized that all building permits will now be issued exclusively through the online system, marking a shift toward digital governance. The platform is expected to enhance the ease of doing business (EODB) by simplifying procedures and improving accountability.
The event was attended by key officials, including MLA Techi Kaso, advisor to the Urban Affairs Minister, and the Chief Secretary, who highlighted the system's role in advancing the state’s digital transformation. The OBPS aligns with the state’s broader vision of sustainable urban development and efficient service delivery, reinforcing Arunachal Pradesh’s commitment to leveraging technology for public welfare.
