Arunachal Pradesh Police have successfully cracked two separate theft cases, apprehending two suspects from Assam in connection with a stolen dumper truck and recovering stolen goods in another incident. In the first case, Naharlagun Police arrested Gyan Thapa (31) and Lekhok Borah (29) from Assam’s Tinsukia district for stealing a dumper truck valued at ₹12 lakh from a construction site in Dokum Colony, Naharlagun. The arrests followed a complaint filed on July 26, 2025, by contractor Sunny Kumar, who reported the vehicle missing after it was last seen on July 25.
Acting on intelligence, a police team led by Inspector K. Dev, under the supervision of SP Naharlagun Mihin Gambo, traced the truck to a hideout in Assam’s Tinsukia district. With assistance from local police, the suspects were nabbed, and the vehicle was recovered within days. Both accused are now in custody, facing charges under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
In a second case, Itanagar Police resolved a mobile phone theft reported by Nabam Epo from the Ganga Market area. Using technical surveillance, the team, led by Inspector Taro Taro, arrested a juvenile and recovered the stolen phone. The juvenile has been sent to a juvenile home, and further inquiries are underway to explore potential links to other thefts.
These swift actions highlight the Arunachal Pradesh Police’s commitment to curbing crime and ensuring public safety through efficient investigations and inter-state coordination.
